What level are your coaches?
All athletic coaches are accredited holding a minimum Level 1 ATFCA accreditation.
How do I join the UQ Athletics Club?
Your child must be twelve years or older to join the UQ Athletics Club, which also registers them with Queensland Athletics. The cost to join the club is $100.00 and this process can be done at the canteen. Roughly within a week of joining the club Queensland Athletics will send out their registration number which should be worn at all competitions.
Does the UQ Athletics Centre run competitions?
The Athletic Centre offers All Comer meets throughout Winter, Spring and Summer. As a general rule these meets are for twelve years and older, but during the Winter the Athletic Centre does offer Junior All Comer meets which cater for 8 to 12 year olds. Information on All Comers meets is posted on the UQ Sport and Queensland Athletics websites.
Do I have to pay to use the facilities at the St Lucia UQ Athletics Centre casually?
The cost of using the track or any of the field event areas is $3.50 for public and $3.10 for concession (students and children). After 3:00 pm this fee is paid at the canteen in the grandstand, between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm the fee can be paid at the UQ Sports and Rehab Clinic in the grandstand. Outside these times the fee can be paid in the honour box on the fence near the 80 metre start line.
Do you offer private lessons?
Active Tribes does not provide private lessons to junior athletes. Secondary school children can have private sessions upon request. Please keep in mind that times and days are limited. All private lessons run for 60 minutes. There are no make up lessons for private lessons.

How many times a week should my child attend lessons?
Once a week is a good number for junior children, while secondary students can attend two per week if courses are available.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
Active Tribes understands that from time to time a child may not be able to attend a lesson during the term. However make up lessons are only offered for junior programs, and not for secondary or adult programs, private lessons or holiday programs.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in the car parks opposite the UQ Athletics Centre or at the multi-level car park situated along Sir Fred Schonell Drive. The cost of parking is $3.00 all day in the parking station opposite the UQ Athletics Centre.
When does my child progress to the next level?
Children are grouped into ages for programs and Active Tribes tries to keep these age groups as much as possible. If your child has advanced skills for their age and will fit in comfortably with a higher age group, Active Tribes may consider moving the child or student to the next age group.
